Meet The Electric Folding Bike With Smart Connectivity
Any gadget lover worth their salt will already know there’s no shortage of smart bikes out there. But the newest invention to hit the bike racks is really something to get excited about.

The JIVR smart bike is a folding electric bike that talks to smart devices using iBeacon. It’s in development by British start-up JAM vehicles founded by Marcin Piatkowski, and is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter.

So what’s special about the JIVR smart bike? Let’s break it down:

Maintenance free, mess free

No risk of arriving at your destination with unsightly oil or grease marks on your legs. This electric bike has a chainless sealed drivetrain, which powers the front wheel. And because the drive is entirely enclosed within the frame, it’s protected from dirt, dust and rust. This means the bike is very durable and maintenance free.

Ride your way

The JIVR is the bike you ride your way. Feeling fit? You can choose to pedal via the rear wheel. Getting tired? Simply use the throttle to the 350-watt hub motor that drives the front wheel to speeds of up to 32km/h. Power comes from a 36-volt 9-Ah lithium-ion battery pack. And a regular 90-minute charge will give you a range of circa 32 km.

Smart connectivity

This is where we get to the good stuff. The handle bar incorporates a mounted console so you can plug in your smartphone as a dashboard. The bike is equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 and iBeacon, so it talks to your smart phone, smart watch or other smart devices. And you can talk to businesses and nearby devices that support the same format. You can also send information back to your laptop about your ride and any new cafes or venues that you discover.

Super portable

The bike weighs only 15 kg and folds away in four easy steps. Once folded, it can be carried or wheeled along on the two 20-inch wheels. So it’s great for apartment living, commuting and easy storage at the office.

How do you get one?

Funding for development of a smart e-bike doesn’t come cheap, which is why it’s being sourced via crowdfunding platform, Kickstarter. And to help bring this creative project to life, and raise awareness and advocacy of cycling, there’s an exclusive Ambassador program for all JIVR Kickstarter backers. The JIVR Ambassador program gives direct discounts to the bike purchase and funding towards supporting and promoting cycling in the purchaser’s home city – so long as the population is at least one million.

So if you’re looking to cut a dash in the bike style stakes and own an e-bike incorporating all the latest technology, the JIVR Smart Bike could be the invention to back.
